OncoThAI “Laser Assisted Therapies and Immunotherapies for Oncology” is directed by Pr. Nadira DELHEM

This UMR (INSERM, University of Lille, CHU) is made up of 2 teams: ImmunoPDT and Cancer Immunotherapy led by Pr. Nadira DELHEM and PhysicoPDT led by Dr. Anne-Sophie VIGNION-DEWALLE.

OncoThAI aims to offer an innovative therapy "Photodynamic Therapy (PDT)" essentially for cancers in therapeutic impasse. Indeed, the use of PDT in oncology has seen an increasing interest in recent years. There are, moreover, significant elements supporting the hypothesis of a PDT promoting the activation of the immune response. This property would be a major asset in oncology considering the revolutionary success of anti-tumor immunotherapies.

Based on this rationale, the activities of the ImmunoPDT team aim to develop fundamental and translational clinical projects in order to characterize the effects of PDT, used alone or in combination with conventional treatments, on the regulation of the immune response.

PhysicoPDT develops the technologies necessary for the implementation of PDT in human clinics. In addition to mathematical modeling of mechanisms (in-silico studies), the team has recognized expertise in treatment planning, simulation, light dosimetry and the design of medical devices. Finally, the team relies on proven competence in the implementation of clinical protocols to assess PDT, in particular, thanks to the very strong involvement of clinicians within OncoThAI.
